The
user will discover that creating a stable
ecosystem can be a challenge. You need both luck and
a reasonable choice of parameters. However, once an
ecosystem gets started, provided it can support a
population of several hundred animals, it will almost
never go extinct. Leave it running overnight! The
behavioral complexity of the animals should increase
as the simulation progresses. During the first tens
of generations, basic foraging strategies will develop
that expose the animals to new areas. After hundreds
of generations, more complex strategies should emerge
that incorporate active avoidance of blocking objects,
and the ability to hone in on food. Each world will
be unique!
To
get started, follow the instruction under DOWNLOADZ
to install and run EVOLUTIONZ on your system. Now
start the program and wait for the default world to
load. Once it’s running, go to file and select new.
A window should pop up with a list of parameters.
Through these parameters new worlds can be created and
explored.
